Hello all,

I'm inquiring about the value of Quill and Scroll? Our school is already a member of our state's scholastic press association and Journalism Education Association. What would your next move be? (I'm a relatively new adviser.) Many of my graduating seniors are asking about graduation cords for journalism. An Internet search led me to Quill and Scroll. Thanks so much for any feedback. Great outfit, one of the earliest scholastic journalism organizations to support advisers. Check with them to see if your school is already a member. If not, join up and start making recognition of journalism achievement a regular part of graduation at your site,

Steve

Jim,

Quill & Scroll is an honor society for journalism, with membership criteria similar to the NHS.

Before you do anything else, check with them to see if some earlier adviser from your school may have gotten a charter.

Besides the honor factor for your students, Q&S also has several competitions and critiques.

Altogether a worthwhile endeavor for your program.

A wonderful organization that provides unique and valuable experiences for your students. They — and their parents and school administrators — love it. I highly recommend you establish, or re-establish, a chapter at your school.

Mark
